You can try Pith without connecting Instagram — it reads your public profile and drafts stories in your inbox. To approve them and post them from Pith, connect your account.
What you need first
- Your Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account (not personal).
Instagram requires this for any app that publishes — not just Pith. On a personal account? In the Instagram app: profile → ☰ → Settings and activity → Account type and tools → Switch to professional account. It's free and takes about 30 seconds.
Pith uses Instagram Login — you approve on Instagram itself, and no Facebook account or Facebook Page is involved.
How to connect
- In Pith, open Settings and find the Instagram section (or tap Connect Instagram at the bottom of your inbox).
- Tap Connect Instagram →.
- Instagram shows the permissions Pith is asking for. Tap Allow.
On a phone, Instagram's permission page opens in your browser (Safari or Chrome), where you're usually already signed in — not in the Instagram app, which can't show it. If you opened Pith inside another app's browser (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok…), Pith asks you to open the page in Safari or Chrome first — the connect works best there.
If Instagram sends you back without connecting, the usual reason is a personal account — switch it as above and tap Connect again.
Once you're connected, the Instagram section in Settings shows your @username.
What Pith can and can't do
With the connection, Pith can:
- Read your recent posts (photos and captions) so drafts stay in your style
- Publish the stories and posts you approve — when you tap publish, or at the time you picked for that post
Pith cannot:
- Read your DMs or comments
- Post anything you didn't approve
- See your followers' details
If you untick the publishing permission on Instagram's screen, Pith still connects but can't post for you. Settings says "This connection has no publish access" — reconnect and allow it to turn publishing on.
Staying connected
Instagram access lasts about 60 days, and Pith renews it for you automatically. Settings shows the current expiry date. If renewal ever fails, a banner in your inbox says "Reconnect Instagram" — tap Reconnect Instagram → and approve again.
Disconnecting
Tap Disconnect in the Instagram section of Settings. That removes the connection from Pith; to revoke access on Instagram's side too, open the Instagram app → Settings and activity → Apps and websites → Active → Pith → Remove. Drafts keep arriving either way — Pith just can't post them until you connect again.
