Connecting Instagram so Pith can post for you

How Meta access works, what permissions Pith needs, and how to disconnect at any time.

Updated

You can use Pith without ever connecting Instagram — it'll still draft daily content for you to copy and post manually. But the daily rhythm gets a lot easier once Pith can publish on your behalf.

What you need first

  • Your Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account (not personal).
  • It must be linked to a Facebook Page you manage.

Instagram requires this for any third-party publishing — not just Pith.

How to connect

  1. Go to Settings → Instagram inside Pith.
  2. Click Connect Meta account.
  3. Sign in to Facebook and approve the permissions.
  4. Pick the Instagram account you want Pith to post to.

You'll come back to Settings with a green "Connected" badge.

What Pith can and can't do

With Meta access, Pith can:

  • Publish feed posts, stories, and reels you've approved
  • Read your recent posts to keep the voice profile fresh

Pith cannot:

  • Read your DMs or comments
  • Post anything you haven't either approved or set to auto-publish
  • See followers' personal data

Token expired? Reconnect

Meta requires apps to refresh access every 60 days. If Pith stops posting and you see an "Instagram needs reconnecting" banner, head back to Settings → Instagram and click Reconnect. It takes about 20 seconds.

Disconnecting

You can revoke Pith's access at any time from Settings → Instagram → Disconnect, or from Facebook directly under Settings → Business Integrations. Drafts keep generating; they just stop publishing automatically.
