You can use Pith without ever connecting Instagram — it'll still draft daily content for you to copy and post manually. But the daily rhythm gets a lot easier once your account is connected: your voice profile stays fresh and every approved story is one tap from live.
What you need first
- Your Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account (not personal).
Instagram requires this for any third-party publishing — not just Pith. Pith uses Instagram Login (Business Login for Instagram) — you sign in on instagram.com, and no Facebook account or Facebook Page is involved.
How to connect
- Go to Settings → Instagram inside Pith.
- Click Connect Instagram.
- Sign in to Instagram — the instagram.com consent screen lists the permissions Pith is requesting — and tap Allow.
You'll come back to Settings with a green "Connected" badge.
What Pith can and can't do
With Meta access, Pith can:
- Read your recent posts to keep the voice profile fresh
- Publish stories and posts — each one only after you approve it or ask for it (works with any Instagram Business or Creator account)
Pith cannot:
- Read your DMs or comments
- Post anything you didn't approve or ask for
- See followers' personal data
Token expired? Reconnect
Meta requires apps to refresh access every 60 days. If syncing stops and you see an "Instagram needs reconnecting" banner, head back to Settings → Instagram and click Reconnect. It takes about 20 seconds.
Disconnecting
You can revoke Pith's access at any time from Settings → Instagram → Disconnect, or from Instagram directly under Settings → Website permissions → Apps and websites. Drafts keep generating; they just lose the Instagram connection.
